See how easy it is to
book Pete over the Internet
Esession is the main new internet based
site for hiring musicians and getting your projects recorded and
polished by some of the best musicians, mixers and producers in the
world. It is a really great and easy to use interface which allows
you to work with people on the other side of the world instantly via a
flash based intuitive interface. From the best LA drummers to the
finest Indian Tabla players, internationally acclaimed guitarists,
vocalists and keyboard players. They can all be on your projects
with a mouse click.
This page is here to demonstrate how easy
it is to get these things in motion. It is simply a matter
of registering and then sending work requests to the players you want to
work with. After you have set up a project and created your
song page it is a matter of sending work requests to your chosen
musicians. Then after agreeing terms, fees etc the recording would
be done at the musicians studio and the files are sent via the esession
interface. This is a really intuitive and easy process. It is
explained clearly below but first, here is an into video.
To begin with you would choose the option
to go to the song page via the option on the right of the main page.

This takes a while to load the Java interface.

This takes you into the main song page. This is clearly laid out with
your local drives on your computer on the left and the server interface
on the right. Things can be dragged and dropped or else the
download / upload buttons can be used. (Some of these images are
clickable to enlarge for a clearer view.)

Then in the top right hand corner you have a choice of your projects
and the individual song titles within each of those projects. All
the files for each song are within logically organised individual
folders.

Then there are four main choices within the song page.

Within the song files you get these choices.

Within the stem bank each individual musician has their own folder.
At the upper level you see an overview of all the players. You
need to select your own folder to upload and download.

This is how the page changes when I have selected my Pete Lockett
folder.

Then when you have selected the files to upload on your local drive
the upload button at the bottom of the window illuminates slightly to
become active and clickable. That would then produce an activity bar in
the transfers window next to the stem bank tab.

The other options mix bank, session bin etc work in the same way.
There is an mp3 player as well which is useful for an instant reference
of the various stages and updates of a project.

The song details tab is self explanatory. Key, bpm, file format
etc.

Then the song team tab lists everyone working on the project and an
instant messaging option.

The fourth tab is the song history tab. An itemisation of every
addition and change to the song folders so you can keep track of what's
been happening.

It is a really straightforward and instant way of working with
people, however far away they are. This will revolutionise the
face of session recording and in a few years this will be one of the
main strands for people setting up and executing recording projects.
Finally, here is a one shot outline of what to do.
