Parallax beat brothers

Pete Lockett & Scanner

A unique collaboration of diverse rhythmic and sonic influences. Fluttering and intricate rhythms meet melancholic minimalism and abstract moods mirror a cadence of pulses. Mesmerizing and powerful grooves blend with textured samples, electronic soundscapes and the diverse world of acoustic world percussion, from Indian Tabla to the resonant frame drums of Arabia and much more.

The performers juxtapose instruments and sounds in unexpected and intricate ways, from inflections of the voice to processed audio streams and beats. The result is a musical conversation from two of the most energetic and hyperactive artists around today.

"‘Intense’, ‘Energetic’ and ‘Hypnotic’ hardly begin to describe the Pete Lockett approach to live performance. Caught up in the creativity of the moment, his natural gift is inspiring, making his live appearance an absolute must-see."
Rhythm Magazine

“Scanner’s music is both tiny and grand. It is like the delicate movement of a watch spinning through space. Microscopic clicks, wood blocks and everyday sounds are painted over rumbling, dark canvases.”
The Guardian

The project appeared at Rhythm Sticks at the Royal festival hall in 2005 and has had two UK tours in 2005 & 2006. Rhythm Mag review here!
